Accessibility
NEX-URL is committed to making our service accessible and usable for everyone, regardless of ability, device, or circumstance.
Our Commitment
We believe the web should work for everyone. NEX-URL strives to provide an accessible experience to all users, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities. We are actively working to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
What We've Done
Colour Contrast
All text elements are designed to meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) against their backgrounds.
Keyboard Navigation
The entire site can be navigated using a keyboard alone. Interactive elements are focusable and visually indicate focus state.
Semantic HTML
We use appropriate HTML5 semantic elements (headings, landmarks, lists) to ensure content structure is meaningful to assistive technologies.
Text Alternatives
Images, icons, and non-text elements include descriptive alt text or ARIA labels so screen readers can communicate them to users.
Responsive Design
NEX-URL is fully responsive and works across all screen sizes, orientations, and zoom levels without loss of functionality or content.
No Colour-Only Cues
Information is never conveyed by colour alone. Text, icons, and patterns are used alongside colour to communicate meaning.
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time task. We are continually auditing and improving our website. Current areas of active improvement include:
- Enhanced ARIA support for dynamic interface components.
- Improved skip-navigation links for screen reader users.
- Ongoing contrast audits as design evolves.
- Testing with popular assistive technologies including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
Assistive Technology Support
We aim to support users of the following assistive technologies, among others:
- Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android).
- Keyboard-only navigation: Full site accessibility without a mouse.
- Browser zoom: Content remains usable at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- High contrast mode: Content remains distinguishable in Windows High Contrast Mode.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, we acknowledge that some aspects of the site may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We are committed to identifying and addressing these issues as quickly as possible. If you encounter a specific barrier, please report it to us.
Standards & Guidelines
Our accessibility efforts are guided by:
- WCAG 2.1 — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Level AA.
- ARIA Authoring Practices Guide — WAI-ARIA best practices.
- HTML5 semantic markup standards as defined by the W3C.
